    P-171x FX or P-171xl FX $800.00 difference is it worth it?

    The XL has these options over the X;

    x7900 2.8 oc able to 3.0 est Value ($800.00???)

    (2) 7200s 200gb hard drives est Value ($278.00 @ newegg)

    HD DVD Player (no biggy, Blue Ray is the winner in this fight)

    The $800.00 difference is based off a quote from my Gateway Rep.

    i would say no you can upgrade the parts yourself for less and could sell the stock parts on amazon or ebay to save even more money.

    Yeah I'd say no as well. pocket the 800 and save for a later upgrade or new laptop. The CPU isn't really going to net you much more performance honestly.
    The HDD's are nice, but you can buy a sing;e 5400 250gb drive for 120 bucks and be done, the 7200 doesn't offer that much of an increase IMO.
    the HD-DVD thing is basically worthless to be honest.
    I just don't see a need for anything higher than the 2.4 with the GTS. the GTS is the limiting factor for high end gaming. Keep the 800 bucks and get a new laptop sooner when a better card comes along or upgrade the CPU later for a much cheaper price.
