I am having an issue with reading and burning cd's and dvd's. It worked fine before with the same disc I am trying now. I have used different programs also.

When I burn a disc, it says it is finished but the disc is blank.

I looked in "Event Viewer" and there are quite a few events (78 right now) with

"The device, \Device\CdRom0, has a bad block."

Does this mean my drive is bad?

First try to uninstall and then reinstall your optical drives drivers.

have you recently switched media? Some optical drives go honky if you use a CD/DVD dics they dont like.

Worse case senerio the drive is somehow bad, but thats usually not a big deal CD/DVD readers/writers in PATA are pretty cheap and its a very easy swap out.

But i would try the drivers first

Already uninstalled and reinstalled, I am using the same disks out of the same package I used before and they worked fine.
