Is anyone here using the 197.45 drivers on their P-FX? I'm playing Mass Effect 2 and while the game has been stable, HWMonitor shows I've gotten up to 101 degrees Celsius and I'm idling at 48. Is this normal for these drivers? If not, any suggestions for what I can do short of dismantling the laptop?
Thanks.

101 is pretty hot. On my 6860 ME2 would only ever push the gpu to 68c. I do however keep the laptop's vents and heat-sinks free of dust, and prop the back of the laptop up during gaming to help cooling.
Have you cleaned the vents recently? I'm using the 195.16 drivers, and while not the same, I can't imagine an 40c difference simply from drivers. -
Oh good grief. I just cleaned my vents like two months ago. I cleaned them again, played ME2 for a couple hours straight, and maxed out at 78 degrees. I didn't notice any excessively high temps before switching drivers which is why I was tempted to blame that, but in retrospect the fan was constantly running on high. Serves me right for not cleaning the vents and fan monthly
