I have a few questions for the group on the fresh Vista reinstall after setting up RAID:

    1) Once you create a driver DVD, setup RAID and then install Vista, is there a particular order that the drivers should be installed?

    2) Should I just follow the order they appear on the installation DVD?

    3) Is it best to reboot after every driver installation?

    4) Are any of the drivers on Gateway's site newer than what is included on the driver DVD? If so, I should probably install those instead I would think.

    5) I've read a lot of discussion around the latest Nvidia driver for this machine. Which driver are you guys using and where are you obtaining it?

    6) Anything else I need to keep in mind?

    Regards,

    R

Can anyone help with this? When I do the fresh install, I want to be sure to install the drivers in the right order and reboot where necessary. I know that some OS / machine installs are particular about this.

When I did a fresh instal on my P-171x fx, same thing , I used the driver/app backup disk that I made, I installed each driver starting at the top of the list one right after the other, then rebooted. Then I let vista do all the updates, rebooting when needed. No problems If other drivers were needed I downloaded them from gateway's support site.

once you get the WLAN, video drivers installed windows update will find almost everything else, although I reccommend getting everything off the CD first

Definitely get the drivers off the cd/dvd first, I would take the component makers drivers over vista drivers any day. I had a problem with my blue tooth, and my card reader drivers, I think vista installed some goofy driver for them. I got it figured out though.
