I am having issue with my comp when playing SC2 or WoW, that my comp will get a blue, green, or grey screen and crashes. I know this is a driver issue. This occurred when I was using Vista 64 bit. I have tried dling the newest nvidia driverbut it did not fix the crash, instead it caused my computer to constantly crash when logging in.HTML:http://www.nvidia.com/object/notebook_winvista_win7_x64_197.16_whql.html
I have currently downloaded Windows 7 64 bit. However, there are no drivers for Windows 7 for P-173X FX on the gateway site. Instead I used the drivers for the 64 bit Vista on the gateway site, because its the only thing I can find on the gateway site.
It didn't fix the issue, I still keep getting the crash. I have also noticed, that gateway has not updated the drivers for this model for almost 2 years. I have sent an email to them about 10 day, and no response.
I was wondering if someone can link me all updated drivers I can find for Windows 7 64 bit for this model. If there isn't any for windows 7, can someone link me all updated drivers for Windows Vista 64 bit ?

Give the drivers from P-7811FX a shot. They should work:

cheers ... -
I just called gateway.
They stated that this model is not suited for windows 7
So I ended up reinstalling windows vista 64 bit ultima. It sucks they never gave me a driver disk when i bought the computer. It costs about 15 bucks for a recovery disc from them.
They dont have all the necessary drivers on their site. For example, the network controller driver is not on their site. Luckily I found others having the same issue on this forums and was able to solve it. http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=278799
I'm predicting I might be missing other necessary drivers but not sure.
Now my wireless just cant seem to connect to the internet. It connects to my router, just wont go to internet. I just just stays as local connection. Anyone know how I can fix this? I tried resetting my router.
I know these drivers are made back in 2008 and earlier, and not up to date. Should I try using those driver detect scanner such as driver cure or driver detective? How do you guys find what are the optimal drivers that are comatible with your comp? -

Actually with windows 7 you shouldnt have to worry about anything.
Win7 will install their idea of "best drivers" for your hardware and in general it tends to be spot on. The only thing i had to do for my 6860 was install the newer nVidia driver and install the high def sound driver (the 32bit vista driver works perfectly) -
That is all I have to do? Why would gateway rep tell me I had to reinstall vista, and stating my system is built to only use vista and not windows 7? Now I'm flustered heh.
So If I download windows 7. All I have to do is get the video card driver and sound card driver from manufacturer and that is it? I dont have to download any other drivers from gateway? -

Pretty much. Everything on my 6860 (same as 173) worked right out of the box with Win7. The only thing i did was get the newer nVidia drivers from nVidia and then used the audio drivers from gateways website for HDMI sound.
It was pretty painless all things considered.
As to why gateway told you that... its pretty well documented that they are basically morons when it comes to their systems and if their low level peons can sluff off your problem and not have to deal with you (or better yet sell you the "problem" call service) then they are doing a fine job -
Hahah its not suited for W7? Oh Gateway.....
I believe they are only reading off of a script, or that they only have driver support for Vista, but most if not all Vista drivers work with W7 anyways.
As Kamin said just let Windows do it for you, W7 is very good in regards to installing drivers, etc. -
So far, the only driver that works is this driver from gateway. NVIDIA Video Driver Version: 7.15.11.6746
This driver will cause my screen to go grey or blue when playing games on it at random times.
I have tried the latest nvidia drivers 197.16, 185.85, and 186.81 and all three give me a blue screen before I'm able to log in.
Would a faulty card be a suggestion? Because this issue started this year. I bought my computer in 2008. Over time it was just occurring more often. -

Have you cleaned the system recently? I'm wondering if the card is cooking itself due to the air flow being choked up.
As to the drivers, dont take any from the gateway site except the HD Audio one (or look at iaTa's driver thread for most all of the drivers you need)
I would use nVidia's drivers for the vid card, but i would check your temps first... it sounds like the card overheated
