i've tried at least 3 MMC/SD cards and i dont see them recognized. This is after i did a clean install of vista and after all necessary drivers were installed. Verified device manager has no exclamation point nor X marks. I'm not even sure if the card reader was working out of the box because i havent tried it and the first thing i did was make a backup of the apps and drivers then did a clean install. one of the cards i use has a microsd Adapter, the rest has a lock switch on the card. Not sure if that would make any difference though. Those cards work on my digicam and R4 DS lite. I've noticed on desktop computers that if you have a memory card reader, they usually display them as removable drives in explorer. i have not seen any of those in my laptop. anyone have this problem?

had me worried there for awhile. it's now working. I downloaded the app/driver from gateway's website. uninstalled the current realtek usb reader driver. reinstalled it and now works. must have been a fluke. The device now appears in device manager as Portable Devices>Multi-Card. This only appears when a card is inserted.

I should add, if its in the machine at startup, it works fine until I take it out. I can restart, insert my card and then it will work until I remove it.
