So I ended up with a P-171S FX and a P-6831FX both working after buying 2 broken ones to make one working. The 171 had been upgraded to 4GB ram and T9300, and the 6831 was totally stock. The 6831 seemed to have the least wear (both aren't bad) and it had the 1440x900 screen and the 171 has a 1920x1200. I wanted the lower rez screen for my keeper because it's good enough and with 512mb video ram I didn't want to push it.
I ran a bunch of stuff on both to make sure everything was stable, then I moved the matching 2gb sodimm and the T9300 to the 6831. While it was apart I put ICD7 on the GPU and the heat sinked memory (nothing on the back side mem chips) and put ICD7 on the CPU and Northbridge (all my temps look good). I was getting like 945 Heaven 2.1 score with 3GB and the T5450. After the upgrade I'm lucky if I can pull 938 in the same benchmark, same settings, same OS, same drivers. I completely rebuilt the OS and ran it again, same thing. Why am I getting a lower score with a faster/better CPU and more ram? It's running Win 7 x64 and the latest 8800m drivers from Nvidia. The rest of the system seems snappier with the T9300 and CPUZ says it's running at the correct speed when it's under a load.

What res are you running the Heaven benchmark at and what DX version?
Edit; with 2.5 I ran 1280x800, DX9, medium shaders, texture high everything else enabled for a score of 917 so it doesn't sound like you are doing too bad.............. -
I've been running my tests at 1440x900 DX10, low shaders, no AA, high textures. All the software was identical between tests, only thing that changed was CPU and RAM. Tonight, I'm going to try the old RAM as it's an easier change back than the CPU just to see what numbers I get.

OK, I was really off on my Heaven rating.. I said 900's and it was 600's... just typos because I was looking right at the results. Oh well, it was still lower with the new CPU.

Still not too bad, me at I think your settings, CPU is at 2.93 GHz but can run at 3.2 but there is no bennefit..............
