I have a headset and microphone which I like to use for games. I know that it works, as I have a second PC on which to test it. But for some reason I can't get the Gateway to respond to it. I'm testing it using TeamSpeak as well as Vista's own "setup" software, and can't get it to pick up so much as a peep. I remember seeing some audio jack configuration software popup the first time I plugged in my speakers, but haven't seen this popup since. Any ideas?

I plugged my headphone in the Mic plug and got an IDT pop up.

Dig through your Audio control panels to see if something got switched off.

Plug in your head phones..maybe your Mic jack does not make a good connection.

    Good luck.

The popup doesn't appear no matter what I do. Is there a way to manually activate the popup?

go to sound control panel, then look under recordings tab. Dclk on mic properties to make sure its enabled, and check other settings. also make sure you have no problems under hardware manager.

    Good luck

Everything looks good in both the sounds/recording tab and in Device Manager. No conflicts, and both the line/in mic and the internal mic are enabled. Setting either microphone to "default device" has no effect.

If you can get the IDT popup, can you tell me the path to the IDT exe?

Under control panel - sounds - mics, there is two mic. Ones called 'array' and 2nd one without 'array' pick one and click default until you find a working one. I had to do pick and choose to get my on-board mic working. Also, my headset mic worked soon after.

I see both devices, can switch between the two of them. The onboard mic works fine but the external mic not at all.

Went there, but seem unable to initialize any of the programs to get the popup. Hmmm.

Has anyone tried the webcam mic for teamspeak and skype? Is it halfway decent? I hate wearing headsets.

Ok, I got mine working for Counter-Strike finally without having to use a USB port.

Plug in the headphone and mic jacks. If the IDT thing doesn't pop up for you, try and see if there's a shortcut or something so it will show up. Mine just popped up when I plugged them in.

On the right side of the Audio IDT Control Panel is a section for Jacks. Make sure the second one down is set for Device: Mic. Then exit and it should work fine from now on.

Also, it seems to require I do this everytime I plug my mic in which is a pain, but only takes a few seconds.

My cousin had this problem and simply reinstalling the driver fixed the problem. Don't uninstall the drivers just start the setup and it should give you an error the first time, then restart and install again and it should finish this time. Restart one last time and your external mic should now work.
