Anyone else having that problem? I haven't tried 800x600 with all the sliders at zero, but all the other sensible configs I've chosen are around 20FPS regardless of how I set things.

I've got the new 180.48 driver and have tried all the command line options: No dice.

Anyone had similar issue/have any ideas?

180.70 is a superior driver, i would suggest switching to that one.

Your biggest problem is your CPU is a bottle neck. You can try OCing your GPU to make up for it, but the 1.66 is killing your preformance

180.84 is new one, made specially for gta V. It increases 2-11fps. The game full of bugs, it needs to be updated/patched.

given that gta4 even max out oced desktop quad cores, i think your cpu is bottlenecking your gpu.

I have the newest driver, but people with the P-6831/6860 have had better success than me, with the same or similar processor.

It also seems that many people with significantly faster dual core CPUs are having similar problems.

    I guess I'll wait for a patch.

I disagree that the CPU is the problem. I'm not trying to max the game out or anything. It runs badly no matter how I set it, that doesn't sound like a CPU problem to me, it sounds like something I hope Rockstar is fixing

    Minimum System Requirements

OS: Windows Vista - Service Pack 1 / XP - Service Pack 3
    Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo 1.8Ghz, AMD Athlon X2 64 2.4Ghz
Memory: 1.5GB, 16GB Free Hard Drive Space
    Video Card: 256MB NVIDIA 7900 / 256MB ATI X1900

    Recommended System Requirements

OS: Windows Vista - Service Pack 1 / XP - Service Pack 3
Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad 2.4Ghz, AMD Phenom X3 2.1Ghz
Memory: 2 GB (Windows XP) 2.5 GB (Windows Vista)
18 GB Free Hard Drive Space
    Video Card: 512MB NVIDIA 8600 / 512MB ATI 3870

Disagree all you want to but your CPU doesnt even match the min requirements, so yeah your pretty much going to be getting crappy results even at minimum settings.

This appears to be one of those games that is slightly more CPU intensive than average (probably calculating everything thats going on around you) So you can try to custom configure the code of the game or accept your going to need a beefier CPU to play the game. You might can get a video driver that allows the GPU to handle the Physics calculations and that "might" help you, but the best bet is get a t8300 and enjoy quite a bit better CPU preformance for pretty cheap

So. I lost my FX and have a faster CPU now. While I still think that GTA has something fundamentally broken in not scaling the graphics down properly, having a P8400 CPU makes a big difference, it still slows down semi-frequently, but it runs better.
