Thanks for the link, but those ones aren't cheap. Gateway has the 120W ones for $40 on their website but they're OOS.

Just an update for you guys. I chatted with a sales rep and she told me that a compatible adapter will be shipping starting March 6th. It's the $40 one that's OOS on their site right now. She was very friendly and offered me free overnight shipping. I ordered two of them and she told me that if I knew of anyone else who needs 'em to send them her way. Here is her information:

"My email address is [email protected] and my direct number is 1-800-846-2042 ext 32380 if you need anything in the future or if you have any questions."

$40 direct from Gateway is cheaper than anywhere else I've found. Most places have compatible ones for twice as much. Hope this helps someone.

I must have misunderstood your post, I was under the impression that you wanted something bigger than the standard 120W adapter for OC?

$40 for the 120W is excellent!

What is the stock 6831 ac adapter wattage? And is it really necessary to get a 120w adapter?

    19VDC X 6.32A = 120Watts.

Depending on how hard you OC your GPU, you could damage the adapter.

I find that o/cing a laptop gpu only provides 3dmark06 bragging rights but negligible real life performance increase. Maybe the case is different with the 8800gts but with my 7800gtx it ran virtually identical o/c'd and non o/c'd. While o/c'd it started artifacting at one point, went to stock settings and never artifacted again. And this is with as5 applied.

Yep, not all GPU's liked to be OC'ed. My 1705 had problems past 470/1100.

Some games seem sensitive to OC and run a bit unsteady at times.

That really depends on the application. If you OC your GPU/GDDR3 and find that it does not increase your performance at all, you are most likely CPU limited in that application.

Does anywhere do a slimmer version adapter for this laptop, preferably with an auto attachment also being optional, as the stock one is seriously bulky.
