    I don't know if this is normal for powerful notebooks, but is the power adapter supposed to get insanely hot. I don't want to fry my adapter so if it isn't normal I'll probably try to get it exchanged.

    Unless it burns the flesh and boils then it is normal. Seriously.

    Yes the adapter should get a little warm but not really hot. It should not be too hot for you to touch. But if it is extremely hot I would look into this because that is not normal and there could be a problem with the adapter. You do not want to fry your computer but you do not want to receive serious burns or other injuries as a result of an faulty power adapter either.
