Ok, so keeping in mind I've already opened up my lappy to verify the keyboard connection, when a too-tight HDD connection wrenched it slightly loose:

My alt key does weird stuff. It never works properly. Sometimes it will refresh internet pages, sometimes it will move to a different window I have open, sometimes it will close programs and sometimes it will type "gh".

Any ideas about this? It is the connection again, or is there something else to try before I crack open this beast again?

The alt key will act alternatively from other keys.

But in all seriousness that's a new problem. If there is a loose connection it'd definitely be the key itself. Doubt it's a problem with the entire keyboard or else other keys will have similar problems.

Indeed, that's also what I thought, but both alt keys do the same thing, and have done so before and after a clean vista install.

FIXED: I opened it up again, cos other keys started acting up again. Disconnected then reconnected the keyboard, all the keys including ALT work now.
