;) So got my FX alittle over a month ago, Up until now no major issues other than Bill's steeming pile of Vista... Well not that I cared untill now but my card reader doesn't seem to exist? Ya I got the holes and all but now that the GF got a new HPR937 and wants me to show her how to transfer pics nice and simple like, I'm getting nowhere..

Lemme run down what I've done and haven't done.

1st After I bought the FX I seen in the following Sundays paper...
'Yes I still read "analog" sometimes'...
That BB had droped the price afew $$$ was including a free game 'Yippy!'
And a "Gamers Special Tune-up and FREE game install"???
By their 'WeekSquad', I figured WTH, I was gonna be too busy for @ least a month playing Purple Place ;) to care about a fresh Vista install...
Let their "Professanal Tweekers" Skim the crap off.
.... I really have no idea WTF they did in that 9 hours they had my baby...

2nd So here we are today, I finally won Purple Place :D. and am trying out the card reader for the 1st time and am getting...nada...
    I've tried all my different cards,3 SD's and 2 XD's...nada
I've checked the cards in both my cameras and other puter's... Their fine
Wasted afew hours online with apu from gateways 'wreak support'
Installed the driver, nada.... restarted, nada... uninstalled, restarted, reinstalled, restarted.....nada....
    Hmmm a theme!
Ok so looking everywhere I know to look, I don't seem to be seeing the hardware listed like "I" think it should be.
Serves me right for just begining to like XP...
    I've checked the device manager.
    Played with the autoplay settings
Even started looking thru the registy.

I'm more willing to live with the irratant of using the cam's cable than to listen to Apu and be without my new baby for Vishnu knows how long..

So I've come to the only place on googles web that seems to be fielding FX ?'s with some success.

I will much appreciate any and almost all help U GooRoo's are willing to lend.

TY in advance...So don't expect it during or after.

    P.s. any1 else's "H" & #pad "5" keys keep popping loose?

I tried a Lexar SD card in my FX and it worked. One thing your should check though, does it recognize the card reader in Computer, should say something like Combo Socket. If your computer does recognize it then your card reader is probably defective.

hmmm..the other day I installed a card. Nada. Check the usual, as others.

I check the owners manual under card reader troubleshooting..if card not recognized..reboot. I did, card recognized.

I guess the Vista drivers need to mature a bit?

    Ok so just alittle update,

    Your not gonna believe this...

I had allmost all but given up on the cardreader ever working.
Having logged over 1,000,000 answer searching clicks on my new
USB Rechargable Bluetooth 5 Button Clickywheel L.A.S.E.R. Wondermouse...

Looking in every folder, file, registery nook and cranny = Bupkiss!

I'm tempted to crack this mutha open and check the solderjoints.
However before undertaking such a delicate operation,
A diversionary effort to relieve some of the stress this problem effected on me was needed...
I decided to kill some people...
    Virtually...
Now even though I've got a dozen of the lastest and greatest twitchshooters loaded into the C: I decided to become an Army of one once again and see whats been happening on that old bug ridden freeby of a recruitment tool...
    American Army Online...
No praise here but for some reason I play.
    Anyway on with the story...
After getting the lastest "Updated" version and remembering my old logon
....Hmmm it's been 3 years since last I played...
I was off and killing ...
Ahhhhh the stress just melted away.
Well after playing afew rounds the ineveatible happened... Game froze,
Not much of a surprised in that...

But then, after the normal 3finger salute the alt-tab mash the alt-F4 poke and a tap or two on the universial circle/slash power button,
    Something magical happend..
    Fx Shut down...
And when it came back too life... A little balloon of happiness told me
"USB Mass Storgage Device Installed." !?!?!
    "And Is Ready For Use."!?!?!
    OMFG!
    WTF?
    HooRaa!!!

So yes, apparently AAO fixed my Cardreader...LOL No not really.
I'm not sure what happened exactly or why it happened but it did.
Finally, I Can use my beloved's little holes as intended.
    No "Return to sender" required.
Not that I would've ever sent it back to the cow ranch for God knows how long.
    Now I'm at peace...LOL

The only thing I can think of is that I normally don't use the power button,
    Normally it's the startmenu/off way I go...
In fact this thing is almost never off.

I couldn't recreate what I've done or in what order if I where a million monkeys with a million years to do it, But I think it has something to do with that now 'ALL POWERFULL' button.

So if you having a problem with drivers or the like, Don't underestimate the power of that now Universally reconized 0/ Button.
