Anybody else see this in their Task Manager? I'm trying to figure out did gateway put this Lojack software on my box or did I when I did a reinstall of Vista. It just irks me if Gateway did this....

Someone posted Motherboard specs. I noticed under the bios that it had embedded Lojack.
Still don't know anyone who pays the fees or has had a notebook recovered. -

We could find out more, as if, does it have to be activated to broadcast?
-
In my research if you delete the service and the file it doesn't matter. The bios will put it back in. If you disable the service it will restart back up....
Great isn't it... -
I wouldn't worry about it, you have to activate it first by sending them your #SN. Not like you have a GPS tracker embedded in your laptop. It's actually pretty good stuff, one time fee $20+ dollars for a year, a company I worked for had it on all theirs, and recovered 2 missing machines (employees of course). Once your laptop is stolen you just conntact Lojack and when the theif connects to the internet the location is disclosed.

Cool thanks for the info. When you say send them your serial number do you mean Gateway or the Lojack company?
-
The Lojack company, when they recieve the #SN more ware is sent to your laptop, then they test the signal back and forth, to make sure it's working.
-
Awesome thanks I would rep you but they said I have to spread the love before I can rep you again

Alright, someone actually recovered their laptop, I stand corrected.
