I recently purchased my P-6860 FX laptop from Tiger Direct for $643 after Live.com/Cashback. I'm also in the process of upgrading the stock CPU to a T9300. Just yesterday I found out that the P-7811 will be on sale at Best Buy for $1328 after tax with a free game. Once my T9300 arrives, will my P-6860 be stronger and more powerful than a P-7811 FX?

If you were in my situation what would you do? WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

with all the bugs and problems some people are having with the 7811, i recommend sticking with the 6860. at least you can have RAID.

same comment. i also think you should stick with your p-6860fx... the difference is minor and the stability of your unit is incomparable to what the p-7811fx has right now. i'm just purchasing this laptop because it's the cheapest laptop (with its caliber) in the market at the moment. have to figure out also how can i last with all the bugs and problems that most people experience.

I think the more important question is what would IT cat do.
and IT Cat would Keep the 6860,

You will have a more powerful CPU by a little bit. The Stock CPU in the 7811 is about the equivalent of the t8300CPU. So you will be ahead of the game there.

The 9800GPU will be a slight bit more powerful than that 8800GPU, but if your 8800 can match the clocks of the 9800 then the capability difference will only be 2-4 percent at best.

Now factoring in the fact that your 6860 + t9300 probably only cost about 900 dollars and even the best sale price for the p7811-fx is 1249 your still 350-450 dollars cheaper. With that you can RAID another 320gb HD and upgrade to a 1920x1200 screen and have a slightly better machine than the 7811.

About the only thing at that point the 7811 has on you would be the slightly lower power usage and the DDR3 RAM...but since DDR2 RAM has yet to be a bottleneck in any system i've ever heard of your not actually going to get better performance out of DDR3

What if they gave you the P-7811 FX for $1218.99 out the door with a free 49.99 game, would that be a good deals guys?

900+49.99 is still a HUGE difference compared to 1218.99+free

    900ish for your 6860+t9300
    100 for Raid 640GB
    300 for 1920x1200
    1300 for a better computer

Now you know it doesn't come with a free game and all, but as hard as it is you sometimes have to sacrifice. ;)

Plus if you don't need the 1920x1200 Panel you will get better results in your gaming experience @1440x900 due to less stress on the GPU. And it will save you 300 dollars so for 1k your still getting a better machine.

Now if you want the 7811 then go for it, but personally the very slight increase in GPU abilities are not worth the extra 200+ dollars. Especially considering your getting a better CPU out of the deal. But if your wanting the extra 5-10 minutes of battery life the Montivena chipset will give you then sell the 6860 and move on.

Honestly though there wasn't enough increase in performance to me. That's why i still have the 6860. When i went for my swap out i had the choice of which to get. And the extra 200 in price wasn't giving me anything in performance to really justify the price. So i stuck with the 6860.

6860 ftw, it might be a lilbit slower and not have all the bells and whistles like ddr3 and a 1900 res screen, but with a t9300 imo it has the potential to be as powerful as the 7811 if not more powerful. it sounds like you want to dive into the 7811 just so you can have a top of the line lappy, which is never a good idea when your diving into an unreliable laptop.. thoes are just my thoughts, in the end its your call, if i had the choice, i would keep the 6860 until they upgrade the 7811 to a newer model.

It really all comes down to the Gpu and the lcd sreen in the P7811, because of course you could put the T9300 into either laptop. I have a P6860 with a t9300 in it and my 3dmark 06 scores are very close and in some cases exeed the 3dmark06 (around 8600) scores of the P7811 owners. But the Gpu is actually the most important thing with most games, and the 9800gts is a more powerfull gpu, not by an large amount, but it is more powerfull. So it all comes down to ;What do you want the computer for ? What is going to be it's primary purpose for you? The 1900 x 1200 screen is great. but your not going to be able to play allot of cutting edge games at that resolution (with a decent frame rate) or are you into editing photo's (that 1900 x1200 screen would be ideal for that).Basically, You would get a little more gaming performance for allot more money. Hope that was helpful.
