    So, as per the topic:

    1. Is it possible?
    2. If so, will it require soldering as some GPUs are soldered to the board.
    3. What type of MXM chip can I get? (A or B?). From looking at MXM-Upgrade.com I'm guessing I'll be limited to type A as it's an Nvidia chip already and none of the Nvidia chips are type B on there.

It's not MXM, even if it was, the notebook is too old for MXM 3.0 (so that would mean neither type A or B would work).

Anyway, you wont be able to upgrade the GPU.

The 8800m isn't bad, most games should work well.

Damn, notebookcheck says the 8800M GTS is MXM3 :(

Well it's not your fault, notebookcheck should be more precise.

Because some people write MXM 3.0 as MXM III, so it gets confusing.

I know thread necromancy is normally a bad thing but the posts here were tracked from googling around for an answer and match exactly with what i'm looking for/at.

To confirm: the P-6860FX has an MXM 2.1 III slot, correct?

If so I assume this card (assuming it physically fits) would be ok as an upgrade for the video card?

    Edit:
Thinking ahead i'll not post ebay links as i'm not sure if that's cool around here. The card in question is an NVidia Quadro FX 3700M MXM 2.1 III (Works as a GTX 280M with a bios flash).

If so that's considerably better than my current card (8800m GTS). Obviously it's quite a leap of faith to assume there would be ANY physical similarity in cards so i'll have to do a little work on the heatsink otherwise how do you folks rate my chances?

    2nd edit:
I read the above posts better now (and found the disassembly instructions showing the cards clearly part of the mainboard) so yeah. Ignore :(

P-6860 has no slot. it's soldered to the motherboard. Not upgradeable. At all.
