    Hi

To make the question brief: what are the most recent nvidia drivers you use with no problems on vista x64?

I ask this, because recently I re-formated my P-6860 FX bringing it back to the factory setting and after that I started updating all drivers and software to the up-to date state.
Unfortunately my laptop started freezing with no apparent reason and no error messages, so I began to uninstall all applications and drivers installed.
It turned out to be the nvidia drivers: I used the newest one from the Nvidia website (258.96), also I tried couple of the "top-newest" on the laptopvideo2go site, but with no luck: they all cause my laptop to freeze on some occasion, sooner or later.
Currently I run on the old gateway drivers from their website and had no problems with freezing whatsoever for over a week, but they do crash on occasion while playing some games (LOTRO mainly) - this was the reason why I updated them in 2009. After that update my laptop ran like a champ with no problems. Unfortunately I do not remember what drivers I updated to in 2009...
So please post most recent, stable drivers you guys use.

    Thx in advance.

186.81 and 197.45 are good drivers.

I have had issues what my son's P-6860 FX with the newest Nvidia Driver 258.96, the screen starts to go red, and locks up. 257.21 Are working great on it now. My P-7805U FX runs great with the 258.96, go figure.

I had that problem too and screen blackout's. lol

I think lots of 8 generation GPU are having problem with these drivers. lets hope that official laptop drivers will work fine.

Mine ran fine with the 19x.xx drivers, but freezes regularly with the 256 series of drivers.

DOX's forceware 195.xx gets me the best frames compared to any driver I've tried. Scores worse in benchmarks.. but my GTA4 FPS went from 9.2 to 22.

Was having the exact same problem with the 258.96 (P6860-FX) and thought I was just going crazy, but thanks to this forum again, I find the solution. Mine had screen blackouts and sometimes full BSOD crash reports after reboots.

The driver version 179.48 from the NVIDIA site says it couldn't find related drivers/hardware so where do I find a good driver site? I'm getting Gateway's 2008 driver but I'm hoping I could get the one I was using from 2009 which ran stable.

Edit: I found my old driver (192.62) and I haven't had a problem so far. Good thing I didn't delete it yet.

I hate to bump this old thread but i've been searching for the right driver for ages. I've tried many drivers and when I log in, after a minute the screen goes black and theres an error box. I seem to have the same issue Lum-x did..right now im on standard vga graphics..someone please help.
