I apologize if this has been brought up in previous posts but I did a search and could not find anything to help me with what I needed. I need the best xp video driver for the 8800m gts for which I have already tried a bunch of drivers from laptopvideo2go.com. I don't know if I need to do the modded .inf thing but if I do could someone please tell me so. If there is a post already can you please give me a link? Thanks

I downloaded the latest driver from LV2G.com and then I extracted the nv_dsp file from the "original inf's" folder into the main driver folder and then ran the .exe and it worked fine

No I have not tried that yet but those are for vista and I really need a driver that will work for sure for the 8800m gts in xp. I appreciate the responses though!

I can't find the exact one I need in 3Dguru so do u think u could give me a link flynnaz? I would really appreciate it. I know it sounds stupid but it seems that all the drivers only support the desktop versions of the 8800 gts not the laptop card.

I am looking for the same driver if it exists (not the enzo driver). I bought the 6860 fx and installed xp on a dual boot to be compatible with other programs for work (cad related). Any luck finding a driver for the 8800 gts running on XP?

    Thanks

    Adam

Use Driver 169.09 with the modded INF and use the "Have Disc" method.

All the info is at latopvideo2go.com, for anyone trying to do this read the quickstart guide and the "Have Disc" method to install the driver on a Gateway P6860-FX with a Nvidia 8800m GTS video card running XP on a dual boot.

widco will downgrading to XP on a P-6860FX work? it says on that website Windows XP on the Gateway P-6831FX. so not sure if its for that laptop only or it will work for the P-6860FX also. I am trying to downgrade my vista to winxp also.

Can you do me a huuuuge huge favor and tell me what firewire controller you have on your gateway?

mine is gonna be here in 2 weeks and i cant get an answer from any of the gateway techsupport people. You can find out by:

    Start
    Right-click on My Computer
    Properties
    Hardware
    Device Manager

It should show as 'EE-1394 adapter' or something along those lines

just tell me if its made by VIA, ricoh or Texas Instruments etc... it would be greatly appreciated
