I'm deciding whether to overclock the 8800M gts GPU on my 6860. For those that overclock, which program are you using, and how far do you overclock the GPU before having graphic or heat issues? Thanks in advance for any replies.

Diablo, I wouldn't OC your memory too high. There is no temp monitor on the Memory. I would work more on the core.

i couldnt get the core past 605 without it crashing. and i didnt keep it there. i was just screwin around with it to see how high i could push it. dead gpu is not worth 3 or 4 fps IMO

Now will I need to reinstall those nVidia tools everytime I update the drivers?

By the way, I increased the GPU to 550 Mhz and the 3dMark 06 went from 8930 to 9128. I didn't notice an big increase in heat and was only looking to increase performance slightly. Think it's even worth it to overclock it for 200 points?

i dont believe you will need to reinstall the nvidia tools every time you update the driver as it is a completely seperate from the driver installation.

as for the overclocking...think of it as putting extra strain on a component. extra strain could lead to component failure. so if that is a chance you are willing to take.....go for it.
