    The title says it all.
So far, I've tried reinstalling drivers but each time I try, it gives me some error saying "_exiterror: error=device object not present, restart the system and run setup again" I did restarted, twice actually but still nothing.

I do not wish to use an external mic simply because I'm cheap and I don't want to go out any buy one.

I have tried to make the volume max and what-not.

I have also tried both of the microphones displayed under the recording tab.

When I try to use one of them, the windows sound recorder tries to record something although nothing comes up. However, when using the other microphone, I get an error saying "An audio recording device can not be found." However, one of the weird things is that the one that makes it so that windows sound recorder try to record something says that it is "Currently Unavailable."

I'm not sure if it hasn't worked since I formatted. I know it used to work fine but now, it is currently not working so I was wondering if I could get some help.

Yes, I did use the search function and google and after who knows how long of searching, I decided to simply try and reach out to see if anyone can help.

Another thing I have noticed but I'm not sure if my memory is just going crazy or not is that I can't seem to find "SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC" anywhere. In my device manager, there is simply just "High Definition Audio Device."

Oh, and yes, the speaker do work. It is just the integrated mic that doesn't seem to work. I think the line-in also works because I was able to record a things using that method. I'm currently running x64 if that matters for anything.

One more thing to add, there is no microphone in the volume mixer if that matters.

    Thanks for your time.

The error message indicated that the driver never installed, so I wouldn't expect that you would see any device. The intel HDA driver isn't good enough. You need to install the Sigmtel/IDT driver. What Sigmatel driver version and OS are you using?

That is the problem. Whenever I try to install, I get the other error message. When I try to install the IDT driver, I get the "_exiterror: error=device object not present, restart the system and run setup again" message.
