I bought a P-6860 FX and am considering upgrading to Vista Ultimate for 2 reasons: Remote Desktop Connection (work requirement) and BitLocker. I want my laptop's data to be pretty secure in case of theft and am interested in BitLocker. But I'd like it to be as easy as possible, which sounds like a TPM chip. I'd rather not go the USB route.
Does the P-6860 FX have a TPM chip that Vista Ultimate could use for BitLocker?

You have a P-6831FX and a P-6860FX or is there a typo? (looking at sig and post)
-
how would you upgrade to vista ultimate without paying a ton?

Hep!, can you send a link? If you bought your laptop at bestbuy they have a deal, where you get Vista Ultimate for $65.00.
-
i am also interested in this silverlight vista thing...link please =)

Anyway, to answer the other question about Ultimate without paying a ton, when I bought my laptop Best Buy had a special going where you can get a copy of Vista Ultimate for $69.99 with any qualifying laptop purchase. I bought it with the idea of upgrading one of the 2 WinXP desktops I have, but I could use it on this laptop instead. Its a standard retail Vista Ultimate Upgrade so it'll work on any qualifying Windows install - doesn't have to be used on this PC.
Anyway, anyone know about TPM in the P-6860 FX? -
yeah iam very interested in this
vista ultimate is really good way better then home premium in my opinion -

Go back to bestbuy with your receipt, they should let you do it if its been less than two weeks or so.

I think I should change the title of this thread to: How to get Vista Ultimate without paying a ton.
And then start another one about Trusted Platform Module. lol -

Go on bestbuy's website, lookup your laptop, the offer is right there.
