    Hello Folks,

I'd like to upgrade to RAID 0 using 2 identical hard disk drives (two 7200rpm 160GB). I wonder P-6860FX will work with Vista 64 and RAID 0.

I remember someone says P-6860FX only support XP not Vista for RAID 0.

    Thank you in advance.
    Seungweon. ;)

Thank you so much for quick response,

btw, do you know how much is it faster than a 320GB 5400rpm hdd?
for example, as a measurement of WEI.

Furthermore, I have seen your memory, can you tell me what is your WEI also?

    Thank you.

Lots of people love using Raid 0. Me, I big chicken. Has anyone gotten the steps down to do a no hassle RAID 0 image? I would place on DVD or USB drive depending on user experience.

Tia..not meaning to hijack your thread.

I would just go with another 320 WD scorpio drive. It's what I did and those two drives fly in Raid 0 configuration. The WEI score is at 5.9 out of 6 which is pretty darn great. Forget about getting two 160's just because they are 7200rpm. The 320's in Raid 0 perform GREAT

I just ran an HDTach and got a 254Mbps Burst Speed and a 94.1Mbps Average Read speed. The pre-installed 320gb WD is pretty fast in its own right, they absolutely FLY when in RAID. As a matter of fact, this setup beats my desktop with 2 74GB 10,000RPM Raptors in RAID

I attempted to restore from an image made using Acronis Home 11, however I was only mildly successful. The data came over bit perfect, however Vista would bluescreen upon trying to boot. I BELIEVE this to be due to the previous installation being installed in SATA compatibility mode(found in the bios) and not knowing what to do with the newly found RAID controller. You may try installing the RAID drivers prior to imaging the PC. I have a suspicion this will do the trick. **IMPORTANT**!! If you decide to try this, make DAMN SURE you create your Driver and Application disc FIRST! You will need this to do a clean reinstall should the image fail. Hope this helps.

hydra the easiest way of creating an image of the RAID array is as follows:

    1) Create a Winternals ERD Commander 2005 Boot CD and slipstream the Intel Matrix RAID drivers when prompted during the Boot CD creation process.

    2) Download Ghost v8.3 to a USB hard drive and boot the laptop with the ERD Boot CD.

    3) Run Ghost v8.3 from the USB hard drive and select disk to image.

    Thanks iaMtHeAnimaL and Dook,

I don't own Ghost or Winternals ERD Commander 2005 Boot CD ;) I have to run company software on my machine so thinking of picking up one more drive for; A: "work" using single 250 drive and B:anything else using raid 0 and two drives.

If raid fails for any reason, I slip in single drive(C: ) then add needed backed up work files. This may save me grief if image fails for any reason?

    Critiques?

    That sounds like good plan.
