My P-6860 can no longer play any graphically intense games. I noticed it on Call of Duty. I used to play it all the time, then I stopped playing games much when I went to school. Well eventually I tried playing it and my computer shut down after about 10 minutes of playing. Now I get into any high performance game and after 5 minutes it shuts down. I'm assuming it's an overheating problem, but I dunno. I just played Rome: Total War, which I can actually play (but it's more of a CPU game than a GPU one).
I ran HW Monitor as I played. This screenshot is from a minute ago; I finished playing the game about 20 minutes ago, so those are my idle temps.

They look pretty high to me, but I'm no expert. Any thoughts?
p.s. I think I'm running 186.08 drivers.

The temps look high at idle. Basic fix which i would suggest is to get ur fans cleaned. Also makes sure the vents are not blocked.
-
I've done my best on that, but still no dice. Also, I haven't run any intensive games lately cause I'm a little worried that if I overdo it, it's gonna fry something. Should I do it just one more time to test it?

Tried checking the thermal compound on the CPU? Its always good to do it once every year. It wears with time and can be the reason for overheating. Also the GPU. Try ICD7 for good results. There are so many threads on that. Also check youtube for videos on how to get it done.

The CPU/GPU temps are certainly high... I second getting ICD7 and invest in a can of compressed air (make sure you blow the air in a direction that is outwards of the vents instead of towards the internal components or you are just compacting the dust)
Also which CPU do you even have installed? -
Just the stock CPU, a T5550 I think? My best guess was that the thermal paste was the problem - I'm just not sure how to apply more, although like you said I'm sure it's on here somewhere. One question, though, does taking it apart to apply the paste void the warranty?
-
I dont think so... but maybe the thermal pad/heat sink came a little loose so applying new thermal paste and adjusting the sink should help quite a bit.... also, when you play, is your laptop just flat on a surface? or is it elevated by something such as a cooling pad? elevating it can make an even more difference...

Try their site given below on how to apply ICD7
