To put it short, my P-6860FX pretty much died the other day. I have no idea why. Basically, I turned it off and tried to turn it back on the next day to have the laptop simply not turn on. I'm pretty sure it was a power issue but I checked the voltages on the adapter and the voltages were fine but nothing powers up when I press the power button nor do any of the lights in the front come on while it is plugged in.

Just wondering if anyone else ran into this problem. Basically the laptop doesn't turn on whether its plugged in or on battery. I'm wondering if I'm missing anything. What I have done so far is I've taken off most of the components to see if anything shorted out (ie. I removed RAM, HDD, CPU, unplugged fans, wireless card, keyboard, etc). I basically stripped the laptop and only plugged in the monitor and the power button to see if it would turn on but no dice.

Is the laptop simply just dead? The only odd thing I noticed before was that that adapter started making noises but I was reading around and it seems to be common for the series of laptop so I didn't think anything of it. I'm currently out of ideas and have no idea of anything else to do besides trashing it. Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks for your time.

It sounds like it kicked the bucket. My adapter also makes a light hum/buzz sound.
Try the baking technique.. Worked for me!
