I have recently posted a thread about my P-6860FX rebooting repeatedly while in normal use. It is brand new, and gateway is of no help at all. Hopefully someone can help with new info.

I've had this problem where my machine would just reboot out of nowhere way to often while in normal use (e-mail, works, word etc). I sent it out 3 times for this problem, but they send it back each time still doing the same thing. They want me to send it for a 4th time, but I'm not to convinced it will be fixed this time either. Any way I have narrowed it down to a couple things. It seems that every time I try to watch a movie, or a page that has a lot going on (like video streaming, animations live feeds whatever these things are called) it will immediately shut down and restart to the black screen with "restart normally, restart in safe mode" etc. now I can be using the pc for a long time without a problem, but as soon any kind of video (whatever it may be) it will shut down immediately. I'm not sure if it's the graphics card, because everything else seems fine.

If anyone understands what I mean please give me some advise. I really appreciate anything. If anymore info is needed please let me know.

    thanks

Can you run any games (minesweeper and solitaire not included), Direct3D applications on your computer without it crashing?

Did you do a REINSTALL VISTA? download all the drivers from gateways support site one by one and make sure you keep track on which one you downloaded, especially the gpu driver

The laptop came out of the with the issue. Also...I haven't tried any games I've only played movies. It seems to shut down when a page, or whatever I'm looking at is really busy. I'm not sure if I'm explaining it correctly, but thats the best I can do. Peace
