Not possible as no one ever found the PLL to overclock via software and the only bios overclockable CPUs for your machine are the X series ie x7800 x7900 x9000.

    I think so as well....

I'm wondering if the PLL number is even on the board... you'd think someone could have found it by now. I'm willing to try and open it up and take a look but not so sure if I should if it's no there...

yes i was talking about the PLL, i thought i mentioned that when i typed the post, but apparently not. i'm not exactly sure what it is supposed to look like, so i might have missed it. i've seen a pic of one but haven't seen anything like it on the board.

Me? no... I haven't opened it up yet. Maybe this weekend, but I am a little hesitant to open it up for no reason as there have been multiple others but no one has been able to find it.

admit it... your just here to mock us arent you :p

As to our PLL...even with the great pics that vwracer69 posted of the 7811's mother board i couldnt find a PLL.

We have to have one, but i have a feeling we would literally have to try every code on every chip on the motherboard to identify it. Either that or some how gateway bent the laws of electronics and didnt have one put on the mobo

I've said it before and i'll say it again...these things were put together with black magic and hatred

I'm thinking about doing this tonight.... anyone got any tips? I'm thinking that if I can't find that **** Crystal of just writing down all numbers on chips that look like they may be useful and going from there.

Anyone got any tips before I rip this mofo open?

Unfortunatly... no. Unless someone can by a miracle find the PLL. out of curiosity what exactly are you doing that the t8300 isnt capable of?

Tips. Take it slow and easy, and get the right tools for the job. And if you cant find it i stand by my black magic and hatred statement

    Overclocking ;)

Jokes aside - I wouldnt say that it is absolutely crucial.. ATM my system is pretty fast, its idling at 38 and max at 47, so I should still be able to keep the system cool when OCed. So why not do it? ;) Obviously its harder than I thought though..!

    oh ok.

Overclocking for overclocking sake is fine, i just didnt know if you were doing something that the t8300 wasnt capable of some how.

It does look like Citizen86 found the PLL, but as of yet there is nothing available to software mod it as of yet.

You could always try pin mods and the like...but you risk fragging your system if your not careful.

Also remember that while we have ver nice systems we do not have the most powerful of cooling units, so be careful when venturing into the realms of increased voltages

you can change the memory timings with memset but most overclocking programs don't support our pll
