I haven't gotten my computer yet, but I want to find out from people that have gotten this computer recently whether or not they had a 7200 rpm HDD included. The specs say that it's 5400 rpm, but we all know how right that is :) .

If you do, consider yourself lucky. If not, why bother? I rather have the comp delivered with everything it says in the specs, than hoping for some "discrepancies".

And yes, there are time to time, when buyers have a better device specs incoming, due to shortage of part in the warehouse.

    cheers ...

I take it that you ordered it from tigerdirect? if so then there specs are off cause most of the 7801u's came/come with 7200rpm hard drives now as far as manufacturers of the hard drives it will vary.

I just saw a picture of a official box of the P-7801u and it says 7200 rpm hard drive. But the one on Tiger Direct says 5400 rpm...strange?

I got my computer today and it was a Hitachi 320 GB, 7200 rpm!!! Awesome.

Resolution is phenomenal. I think I should get a 15.4 inch with this res next time.

I believe so. However, I talked with a Gateway representative about it before I opened my computer. He checked it and said it was supposed to be 7200 rpm. I think I could have gotten a replacement HDD if I had gotten the 5400 rpm.
