Oh NO this or the new MSI GT725 with the 4850..oh no
-
Oh right, Saint's Row 2 comes out on the 6th. I guess I'll pick that up too.
-
OMG
do you know if this computer would be able to run GTA IV without problems? -
The only problems would come from the code - it'll run the game fine.
-
With a beefier CPU it could run it a bit better but GTA really needs a Quadcore to be totally enjoyable and thats not to say you cant play it because you can just dont expect awsome framerates like youll get in most games.
-
Good thing, cause I just bought mine for $1,244.86 total (1,149,99+8.25%tax). So im gonna take it back ASAP. I still cant believe this thing is that cheap.
Oh man why did you have to mention that MSI!! im guessing theres a big difference with 4580 vs the 9800gts ? But does it warrant the couple hundred extra? -
-
-
-
the 4850 is really good if you can afford it...
-
Right. Except for that it doesn't have PhysX.
Wanna see nice bangs and blows with lots of particles? Go get 9800.
Wanna have old and troublesome drivers for a great card? Go get 4850. -
Good luck all..I am still on the fence between this and the (MSi 4850..better cpu and gpu and dolby)..will only be extra $231 with free shipping no tax from amazon..
Not that i have money to throw around.I love deals this Gateway seems very good..I wonder(Gateway} about Sound options for games..5.1 ...
I'll be following this for awhile .... -
That look/sounds Good..now im more confused.lol

True, in situations where you know your short term equity, credit has its place. If you can't meaningfully and reliably pay it off in 2-4 months, a little voice is trying to tell you something.
If you go interest free, make sure to take the interest free window (6, 12, 18 months) and divide the total cost by it and make sure to hit those payments every month like clockwork for an effective interest free loan and no penalties. -
It's a good deal if you have the means to schedule your payments automatically, and be sure to watch the due dates, because they do tend to not always be on the same day of the month. -
I will always pay it off one month eary at the most, just to be save, its a nice intrest free loan, at 17 months, awsome
I my case $1135.04 (price + tax) divided by 17 = $66.77 per month.
-
Yesss. Just got mine.
-
-
Well I didn't get it yet. I had to order it online since there is no best buy on Maui. I'll give you guys the full specs when it comes on in.

With 18 months no interest, I figure it's a great unit for one of the kids, so I picked one up. I'm such an impluse buyer, it will be the death of me, I'm sure! I just cannot pass up a really good bargain! (even if I wind up reselling it and making a few bucks in the process...)
Now, I just have to open it up and pray that it does that the LG WUXGA display! I figure with that batch number, it should be OK, though. -
, but when I am playing Crysis or something as that...looks great.

Gee, I had NO idea.... -
BTW, how's that Covet? -

Besides the sharp corners on the palm rest (where I finally admitted defeat and use two soft cushions), this thing runs insanely cool and crisp and I feel zero heat from it under load for hours. I can honestly say it is the nicest notebook I have ever owned. The real surprise was the 3700 chipset which is even more powerful than the 9800gtx and it still runs cool with temps never breaking 70 no matter what.
Still wouldn't mind an extra 1.4" on the diagonal though. -
-
Does Amazon offer 3year warranty w/ accidental? -
I believe the test was the 9800GTS was basically on par with a 9600GT/GSO desktop card. Don't quote me on that though @_@ -
And the 4850 is better than even the GTX, therefore, no doubt that it is better than the GTS. I really like the MSI, you get the P9500, Blu ray player, 4850, same WUXGA screen for $1599. Wish I have those kind of serious money to spend though -
I used to buy ATI (AMD), but I moved to Nvidia, and have never gone back.
-
So which computer is better??
The p7805u or the GT725-074US??? -
MSI gets my vote if I have the money... due the ATI card and the available blu ray player (the GT 727).
Anyway count how much you will need to spend on the gateway + tax and compare it against the price on Amazon (w/ free shipping and no tax) and see which one is the most viable and affordable item to you.
MSI is one of the underrated laptop makers
http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Graphics-Cards-Benchmark-List.844.0.html -
I'd say value wise the Gateway is better than the MSI, but if all out performance is more important than price I'd definately get the MSI. I really wanted one until the gateway came out and I decided not to wait.
-
i was wonderin which laptop is better for gaming the gateway P-7805u or the Asus G50vt-x2( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220403)? and which one you guyz think is better overall? I already got the asus one, i can resell it and get the gateway, i just need your guyz opinion. if there is going to be a big difference in gaming.
-
Kamin_Majere =][= Ordo Hereticus
The 7805 will be more powerful than the G50.
But not by such a large factor that it would really be worth all the hassle to sell your asus and buy a Gateway.
Unless you just really want to join us on the dark side -
Because the final price for the Gateway with taxes and shipping would be $1,074.98 before sunday.
But I won't get paid until Jan 15th, so I think I may miss the $100 discount. In that case, it would cost me $1,174.98.
So, you are saying that the final final final price for the MSI is $1,349.99? You sure about it?
Because in that case, the difference between both of them is of $175. I would think it twice before buying the gateway.
pd.: is it possible that the MSI does not have firewire? -
which state are you from. I am from IN and I NEVER get taxed buying an item from Amazon( bought PS3, etc). I think amazon has warehouses in states like KY and etc. In those states you have to pay taxes.
-
I'm in Avon, Colorado.
But it seems that it does not have firewire. No firewire, not use for me. -
Dude, you won't be taxed
got this from amazon.com
"Orders Subject to Sales Tax
The amount of tax charged depends upon many factors, including the identity of the seller, the type of item purchased, and the destination of the shipment.
Items sold by Amazon.com LLC, or its subsidiaries, and shipped to destinations in the states of Kansas, Kentucky, New York, North Dakota, or Washington are subject to tax.
For sales tax purposes, electronically delivered products (e-books, e-documents, and electronically delivered software) are considered to be shipped to your credit card billing address.
No sales tax is charged when purchasing gift certificates; however, purchases paid for with gift certificates may be subject to tax. "

Thanks for the pic, but I was talking about the MSI.
If the MSI has no firewire, then i'll go for the gateway definitely -if it's still available by that date. -
The pics of the GT725 on amazon sure look like there's a firewire, but its not listed in the specs on either MSI or Amazon's sites.
-
You're right Mike, one of them seems to be a firewire.
I'll still try to go for the gateway. I thiknk that just a videocard isn't worth $175 if I'm getting a 9800 gts with the gateway. I hope I still can find one by then. -
Yeah it was even more for me, about 220 bucks difference in price, so I opted to get the gateway now since there was uncertainty about whether or not the WUXGA screens will stay. As I remember the MSI is also a 1680x1050, while easier on the eyes the gateway screen is "worth" more. The price difference also assumes I ignore the "use tax" here in Indiana, technically you're supposed to pay sales tax on out of state goods where taxes aren't collected elsewhere, but most people just put a small amount in because chances are no one will ever check what you bought.
