Ok i just got this laptop like last night...installed the driver 185.20 and then restarted the computer ...everything seemed ok and i was about to get good fps on CS:S around 120-150 as expected then today when i tried to play again its wont go over 100...it stays between 50-90..so i was wondering does that have anything to do with the driver? Did i do something wrong because i just downloaded and installed ...was i supose to uninstall my current driver first?

Oh yeah i was told to disable that but still no difference
-
should i restore to stock driver? Is there anything wrong with that?
-
I don't know about everyone else, but when I find a driver that my games seem to like I stick with it until its greatly outdated. Why mess with a good thing?
You shouldn't have any issues switching back to the default driver but you could try a few other releases too. There are many good ones on this site. -
Tsk tsk FutureFXOwner, you didn't read the guide we gave you with installing the driver fully last night
You were suppose to uninstall the old driver and run the program called Driver Sweeper.
Do this..
1) Uninstall the driver, (Go to Control panel - Uninstall a Program - Right click "nVidia Drivers" Only uninstall the display drivers, not the audio drivers.
2) Run Driver Sweeper ( http://www.ajuaonline.com/2008/06/23/driver-sweeper-155/ ) to clean it out.
3)Reboot.
4) Install the 185.20 drivers again.
5) Reboot.
6) Done. -
man i love you! haha thanks for the steps...yeah i guess i got a little too excited last night with my new laptop and rushed through everything....
Anyway thanks guys
o yeah is it safe to just leave it like it is right now with both of them? the game seems to be normal now... -
So its not normal having 40 - 80 fps on Css (everything maxed) ?
-
-
im not sure..IS it normal? i get only about 90 fps with everything maxed....i thought it would be around 150...
-
OK IV HAD ENOUGH OF THIS! I installed the new driver successfully and everything was working fine after the rebooted ...i got an average of 90 FPS..now i only get max 15!! and its not the game settings...i dont know what is wrong!!
Is there anyway to go back to the original driver? Driver sweeper? -
That doesn't sound like your driver than.
1) Click the battery icon in the bottom right Icon tray. Is the blue dot on High performance? If its not, click it because you want it to be.
2) Are you playing with it unplugged?
3) Download HWMonitor (Google it, comes right up) and start HWMonitor before you load the game, than when you get 15FPS hit the Windows key on your keyboard to minimize the game and look at your temperatures that HWMonitor is showing, and post what they read. -
Wow....i feel like such an IDIOT now ..haha...i didn't know it was unplugged!
-
hmmm i havent used clean install method but i would always get around there 40-100fps everything maxed just on 800x600 resolution.
When i installed windows 7 i started getting around like 150fps sometimes even over 200fps!!! but then after awhile it dropped like your did to around 40-70fps during action.
I didnt understand why it dropped either -
also guys go here, i started a thread so we could benchmark a bunch of games so we can have a list of comparrison, to see if our computers are ok, or if there is something wrong

Not what you guys play but I also use RealFlight G4.5 as a radio control sim. I get non overclocked a minimum of 220 FPS and overclocked 260+. At times I see well over 400 FPS. Just an awesome machine.............
