so with prices having dropped a lot I'm looking at this OCZ 8GB set from Newegg - Newegg.com - OCZ 8GB (2 x 4GB) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Laptop Memory Model OCZ3M13338GK or this Corsair one - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145281
are there any problems with DDR3 1333 in the FX line? or do they need DDR3 1066 (like the 4GB sticks the model came with)
edit: also there's one from a company called G.Skill for less but I've never heard of them, are they good quality?

Theoretically the SPDs in the 10666 should be programed to the lower timings and work. The problem I saw is with the GSkill the 1066 was timed as 7.7.7.20 where I saw somewhere else the SPD of the GSkill 1333 memory at 1066 as timed as 7.8.7.19 so I am not sure if this is supposedly slower or not.
GSkill uses the cheaper Hynix chips but these seem to run fine on the P78xx. The one concern may be someone else had an issue with these and altering the SPD. If you are not going to OC the FSB that is fine but also you can't tighten the timings. If memory serves 6.6.6.18 was the tight side of JDEC 1066 spec and I think our default memory can run the tight timings.
I was thinking about the 1333 GSkill as well but am hesitant........... -
the OCZ is only tempting to me because it has a free 4GB flash drive (somehow lost mine so that would be useful with college starting back up) but I hate dealing with mail-in rebates plus the Corsair is only $5 more than it (after rebate) -

swapped it in and my system immediately recognized it had 8GB of RAM now

I ended up getting the G.Skill for $159.99 and it has memory timing of 7-7-7-20 at 1066 (533x2). If you have to use the FSB of 1066MHz, is there any benefit of getting faster memory? I wish newegg would list all timing values in SPD, not just the fastest. The $20 coupon code was EMCYXYX42 and the free 4GB flash drive deal was OOS.
