    Hello there!

I tried searching through the threads for an answer to this problem but didn't see it if it is there.

What's happening is that my P-7805u gives restarts when I plug in an HDMI cable to my TV. The odd thing about this, is that it doesn't always happen (except for today which is why I'm finally making a thread about it).

There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason that I can see as to why it is happening. At times when it has worked I can plug in the cable with the TV on or off and it the computer just took a second to adjust to appearance or disappearance of the second output.

If I leave the HDMI cable plugged in while it's starting up it gets to the Windows loading screen and BSODs on me again. If I unpug the cable and let it restart it loads Windows just fine. Once it gets there Vista shows up with a friendly "Hey, something not good happened to me" and gives me this info:

    Problem signature:
    Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
    OS Version: 6.0.6001.2.1.0.768.3
    Locale ID: 1033

    Additional information about the problem:
    BCCode: 3b
    BCP1: 00000000C0000005
    BCP2: FFFFF80002032157
    BCP3: FFFFFA600A0C5880
    BCP4: 0000000000000000
    OS Version: 6_0_6001
    Service Pack: 1_0
    Product: 768_1

If anyone out there has run into a similar situation or just knows what to do I would appreciate the help.

    Thanks!

Did you ever get this resolved? I am getting the BSOD when I try to use the HDMI to my 32" LCD as well. One of the errors is SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION.

I had a similar problem. I'd see minor artifacts and get a BSOD upon unplugging the HDMI.

It eventually got worse, with me not being able to start my computer at all (w/ or w/o HDMI plugged in) w/o getting a BSOD (nvlddmkm error).

Gateway support was frustrating rather than helpful. After nearly a month of them asking me to try fixes I'd already explicitly told them I'd tried, I finally got authorization to send the computer in to their repair facility. (Hopefully they fix it.)

Thanks for the tip ryokowashu. After installing those drivers, I no longer get the BSOD. Unfortunately there is something wrong with the display on my tv, it has the sides of the screen cut off. I tried adjusting my laptops resolution but this did not resolve the problem. When I try to change the resolution of my TV, it will not allow it (it is greyed out). The TV is listed as Zoran HDMI tv. I know the TV is capable of displaying what is on the laptop because it works fine using the VGA cable...

What is the full model number of the TV? If not available, what is the screen size in inches? If the screen is 32" or smaller, it may be 1368 x 768 (approx from memory) or some resolution other than 1920 x 1080.

Also, does the TV have a recommended input for PC's? I ask because my own TV has one specific input that is recommended for HDMI PC input. If I use a different HDMI input, the aspect ratio is off and the screen cuts off some of the desktop.
