After having used vista for a while, i decided to upgrade to windoows 7 and with a fresh installation as well. I had installed vista on a raid array, but i'd rather just use one hard drive for the os now. After changing the SATA mode from RAID to AHCI (in the bios), i installed windows 7 on one of my 2 hard drives. The installation worked, but immediately after the boot logo i get a blue screen that flashes by (too fast to read) and the laptop restarts. I changed the SATA mode to IDE (also in BIOS). This worked and everything went fine, but i want to know how i can use the drive in AHCI mode. I didn't install any chipset drivers and i'm still not sure if i should install one when windows asks me to, and what kind of driver i need. I don't mind doing a new installation if i really have to. Any help is appreciated.

there are a couple of seeting in registry you need to set for ACHI, search around they are on the board somewhere. Otherwise you have the circular reboot issue...........
