I do understand making a profit, but those first 2 are more like a robbery.

Well, we shouldn't go so far as to make it illegal to overprice products, per se; especially when you can purchase this laptop for less from so many other retailers. However, I do agree that it is somewhat immoral to do something like this. It is absolutely within a sellers right to mark up a price as high as he/she wants, and if someone takes the bait, the seller makes a killing. Immoral, yes. Illegal, no. This is just a part of capitalism; it's all about money, profits, money, profits, etc.

And if someone does fall for the bait, it's not necessarily a bad thing; it's a very good lesson when they find out that they could have paid half the price for the machine. They'll wise up the in the future to do their homework before taking the plunge.

That's a great price for the WUXGA. Refurbs have warranties too. Just like a new from Gateway for a year I'm pretty sure. That's how Dell's refurbs are. So good deal on the 1920x1200

I like to call it "stupid tax." Also "convenience tax." I have flipped many an item and usually the reason is because I was willing to do the legwork to find it -- make phone calls, drive all over, whatever. The price above retail is the cost of me providing them a service.

I think crook is an improper term, better replaced with "exploiter" or "manipulator". The thing is, that's how business is. Those who are willing to put in the time to learn are rewarded, whereas the lazy and ignorant must pay more.

Is McDonalds a crook because they make you pay 200% more than what it would cost you to make yourself the same crappy burger at home? You can diy almost everything for cheaper than what you pay someone else to do for you. I could pay my mechanic $20 to change a dead brake light bulb, or I could spend 20 minutes learning how and doing it myself. just sayin.

I recieved my 2 7805u's today, one is complete garbage, the other is like brand new no scratches or scuffs, runs cool and stable and by my suprise it has the 1920 x 1200 resolution screen, The other 7805u it powered on then crashed, then it wouldnt power back on, its dead. I RMA'd that back to tiger so now I wait. Tiger gave me a hard time telling me I had to send it in to Gateway but I ended up send it back to tiger. At least one was good. I am seriously considering canceling my Sager NP5797 order and just using the 7805u, it would save me a ton of money. I have bought alot of refurbished laptops from tiger and 30% of them were nothing but problems, but at the price of the 7805u they were selling it was worth the risk. For the ones who are still waiting for theres to arrive, keep your fingers crossed thats it the 1920 x 1200, 699.99 was a great deal for the one I recieved. Best of luck to all who have ordered one. :D

Congrats Nacr . Its good one came in good shape. I'll be refreshing the Gateway on the Tigerdirect site until its up for grabs again.

If I were you, I'd almost certainly cancel that Sager NP5797. The Gateway should last you long enough until the Sager NP5797 comes down in price.
