Yeah my PSU has a hissing noise too.
I'm able to run the 710/950/1750 clocks fine though, can even push them a little higher when I need to (790/1050/1850)
-
Then I don't know. That was my best guess. I still feel like when I used the new DOX drivers it f'd with my system. Since wiping my GPU drivers clean and installing those, I noticed that obviously that problem had started, plus my Sid Meier's Pirates! no longer worked due to a missing file (I've scanned numerous times for many different things and no problems) and I had to uninstall the game and reinstall it.

-
Except the fact there isn't a way that I can find to get around the GPU downclocking when on battery with these. -
-
I suggest these clocks: 698/988/1798 - Should offer max performance for gaming, while offering stability. Ran those 24/7 with my 7811FX.

Just got a 9078 3Dmark score. Not sure how to upload a pic of the results so here it is.
SM2.0 score 4165
HDRSM3.0 score 4267
CPU Score 2033
Is there any way to increase the CPU score without physically upgrading. -
That's a great score! And..no, gotta upgrade the CPU
-
ok was drawin a blank yesterday when i posted my score. so here is another w/pics. 9363 3d mark score. I overclocked the gpu to 720/950/1850. I seem to have gotten a better score w/ the dox driver and RightMarkCpu Utility disabled. What is the going price for a CPU upgrade? Is it normal to only get a cpu score of 2033 on these machines?

everytime I try to do it, and click apply it says: Invalid Setting; Will not be applied
Any ideas?
Doesn't work again... -
The highest I can get with the GPU overclocked is P2800. -

How do you guys monitor temps? The nVidia System Monitor is worthless. It doesn't show max and min temps at all, and the graph only lasts like 2 seconds.

Q: I'm running 1920 res as the norm but drop the resolution down to 1280 for the default of 3Dmark06. I ran 1920 on the 1280 setting for 3dmark06 and it froze up. Will making the default 1920 in 3dmark06 make a diff if 1920 is the native resolution (or so it says).
Also:How does a OC noob find out hot to hit "the sweet spot"?
Godspeed - We have the same comp (more or less, I have the 7805u w/ 1920 res screen) and I used your settings but got only 9102 (i know, what am I complaining about?), used factory drivers (assuming Best Buy didn't do anything to the floor models), how can I pump it up to 10k? -
I am the owner of a p7805u with the WUXGA display at 1920x1200 and I get the best results when I leave the Shader option at 1500 and raise the core to 710 and the memory to 799. Raising the Shader option makes the games stutter and occasionally crash. I haven't tried raising the core option beyond 710, but it might very well be possible since I currently run games perfectly at 51* Celsius, and I hear that running at around 60* is still a safe temperature to run at.

pmassey31545 Whats the mission sir?
Here's what I got. Notice the clocks and freq.-
NICE!!!!!!!!!!! -
For anyone really interested in overclocking their GPU on the 7805u, I recommend looking into disabling Powermizer. Powermizer is an NVidia tool that is supposed to throttle your gpu down and up to save energy. Unfortunately, I found that it throttled my gpu at the wrong times. When I was running nothing but a web browser, it would sometimes shoot my gpu up to 600Mhz. During video playback and gameplay, it would randomly throttle me between 168, 275, 400, and 600. This caused lag during gameplay.
I currently have used the Nvidia tools described in this forum to change my GPU core clock to 400. I then disabled Powermizer to keep the clock at a constant 400Mhz using "Powermizer Swich" version 1.2 (google for that one.)
I find I get much better performance this way, and also the fan surging issue seems to have been fixed. I'll run the graphic tests and post results if I have time. -
i went from a 6441 to a 7280 @1920x1200 resolution using 700/925/1775 that guy with >10k posted. awesome stuff. running at lower resolutions for higher scores is nice n all, but i didnt search 2 weeks for a 1920x1200 screen run my games at such a low resolution lol.
that being said; would anyone be so kind as to post their 1920x1200 results for comparison? please and ty. -
Btw I was wrong in my previous post, my best setting right now is 716 core, 936 mem, and 1800 shader. I'll post my scores later.
-
Mine keeps overheating with these settings (see page 1). Even with a laptop cooler!! Probably because it has a 1920 screen as opposed to the 1440. Is there anyone who has found optimal settings for the higher res. Also I hear changing the clocks does little to help and that you should undervolt (total noob, no clue what I'm talking about). Any suggestions?

Look up ways to keep your system cool on these threads. -
How hot is to hot? And what temps for how long etc and so on.
Stock factory GPU driver and bios .17 everything no cooler I could peg at 81 degrees Celsius.
Now with a coolermaster no overclocking GPU with latest WHQL release (186.03) and CPU undervolted etc I was able to peak at 68 degrees Celsius.
Now as you can see huge difference. Which opened my eyes to maybe overclocking GPU. I tried the default settings requested in this thread. They did not work for me as I was getting some pixalated blocks while playing last remnant so I dropped mine to 700/900/1700 and had no issues at all ran smooth looked great. But the question is my temps went up from the 68 degrees Celsius to 77 degrees Celsius so is it worth the heat gain of 9 degrees for that performance difference and is that temperature ok? I play games long hours 10+ hours so need to make sure everything is cool. Or if I do lots of video editing or website development I need to know everything is cool. This is my first laptop and have had many servers and desktops over many decades so any help anyone can give would greatly appreciate it. -
If I try to do this using the Dox drivers, I get a BSOD that says DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. The only way to fix it is to uninstall the drivers, run the driver clean-up, reboot, then install the standard nVidia drivers, all in safe mode. Is it safe to overclock using the standard nVidia drivers (overheating)? Is it safer to overclock using the Dox drivers? Is there a workaround to installing the Dox drivers that anyone knows of? I know the guide says "use the drivers that work best for your system," and obviously the Dox drivers are not the best for my system at the moment. It's just that I also know that the Dox drivers give a lot of peoples' systems a boost, and I'd like my system to be one of those systems. Any thoughts?

When was the last time this thread was update? Quick question, is there a difference between the DOX and Nvidia Driver, if so which one is better?
After I Overclocked and run 3dmark06 the test never finishes, when it starts up i would get around 59-63 fps, but as soon as anything happens it would drop to the 20-30, and then randomly out of no where it dropped to 2-6 fps and then I get the message "IDirect3DDevice9:resent failed:: Device lost (D3DERR_DEVICELOST). I tweaked around again and this time it completely froze my computer so i had to manually shut it down.
I'm using the latest Nvidia notebook driver drivers. -
try 700/900/1700
-
My computer resolution was on 1900 x 1200 when i ran 3DMark.
On first graphics test i averaged 59-63 fps, but then it would dip to 25-38fps and then back up.
On Second graphics test i average 28-40 fps.
CPU Test 1 and 2 averaged 1 fps!!!! 1 fps and even times where it was 0 highest i ever got was 4fps
Last two graphics tests i got about 40 fps.
How come my CPU score was so low. I Undervolted my CPU undervolting doesn't effect performance.???
-
Cpu test, that's what you are supposed to get and your scored seems fine.
-
I ran the test on 1600 x 1220 would that have effected my score?
-
yeah....people normally bench at 1280x800 default settings.
-
While at default 1280x1024 I get north of 10,300 with 1280x800 I get 11,050 or better.............. -
How do you people get such good scores...
I got 8833 on my last test and your about 2 thousand higher then me!!! I'm running with the latest Bios, 190.05 Display Drivers, and 700/900/1700 OC GPU. Does UV CPU effect the test? -
-
Guess I need to add a signature, I wasn't trying to say what good scores, just the difference.............
My Avatar does state P9600 though............ -
I mean 2.26 vs 2.66 ghz and you have a 3k difference in score?
-
I also Overclock the video too........
-
I overclock my video too >_> what is powermizer? Your sig says it off.
-
-
I use powermizerswitch:-
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=273276
you'll have to reboot after you change settings because the registry is locked; changes will be subsequently applied after restart. -
Not too shabby, too bad I'm not a gamer................
-
Just bought me this laptop for $935!
Was a awesome deal, I should be getting it next week, sorry to relive this thread, but any things I should know? or tips?
-
-
I'll try out the other stuff when i get it.
P.S
Also what are the best drivers you have used for gaming?
Thanks. -
That's a good score for those clocks TANWare. My clocks are slightly higher (maybe, sometimes increasing the clocks by small increments doesn't actually increase their real speed at all), and I have a t9800, but I'm still a hundred points less. The 1GB memory might be a little help I guess. Also I use nVidia drivers. They improve image quality and framerate in Far Cry 2 more than anything I've seen, but they're nothing special in 3dmark06.
-
-
Mannn.. the best im getting is in the 8ks.. guess i have to buy a new CPU
-
I done furmark stabibilty test for 10 mins. In the end my GPU was at 87 celcius. I was doing the test @ full screen, 1440x900 16x msaa and Extreme burning mode on.
Is this normal?
P.S my cpu is undervolted at 0.9750V. And my graphics card is overclocked at 900/700/1795. -
i tried to change the settings on my graphics card, saved, then applied and its telling me that the changes made were invalid and were not applied. can someone help thanks
