329 USD o_O whoa, had no idea the higher resolution screens were so expensive, thought it was going to be around a 150 USD extra. Heh, I feel pretty good about the extra trouble I went through to find one of the higher rez ones ;)

That's awesome! I have been searching this forum for a couple days now and I keep getting confused about all the TL A3 business. Good to know that it worked. Did you have to take off any brackets along the top or bottom because i have heard with some of the screens it is necessary?

bit of a weird question but:-

what do you guys do with the old 1440x900 screen? I don't know if there is any worth in attempting to resell it or just keeping it.

when upgrading from 1440x900 to a 1920x1200 WUXGA, does the inverter need to be replaced as well or can the stock one still be used.

I only ask because all the ebay lisitings that i have come across mention that "inverter not included" which makes me wonder if an suitable inverter is required to power a 1920x1200 screen in comparison to a stock one that currently powers my 1440x900 in the p7805u.

    advice? thanks.

No, you don't have to replace the inverter, it's the same for both panels.

will i also have to remove the media bar to get access to the inverter or is it reachable just by removing the front screen bezel?

I have to tell you my screen upgrade story+ some good advice, first, I have a P6831FX (1440x900) that I wanted to upgrade to 1920x1200, and ended up on Ebay doing all the homework I could before pulling the trigger. I found that what you see on Ebay is NOT what they will send you. I called most sellers to see if they had the LG model I wanted, and although online they said they had them, and would take the order, they in fact didn't have them. So, in that case they send you any panel they deem compatable, and hope you go away. I ordered from DVDsuper1 on Ebay, a glossy panel, and they sent me a Matte, I complained, and their response was: It's OK, it's compatible with you machine. (I never told them what laptop I had, I ordered by part #), So I sent it back, they told me they would send me the correct one, instead sent me a used Samsung that didn't even work, so I ended up paying $20 to ship back both panels and many calls to get my card credited back from these idiots. Plus, I found that most advertise new panels, and are actually used pulls. It seems they really don't know what panel they are shipping to you. DO NOT order from DVDsuper1 whatever you do, unless you're into brain damage. The good news: I found and bought my panel from laptoppartswarehouse.com (Florida) a LP171WU3 TL B3, and they got it out to me in 2 days. I think it was about $172. Absolutely a sweet panel, well worth the hassle. And the owner David, went and hand picked my panel from his stock, while I waited on the phone! (by that time, I didn't trust anybody) Stay away from Ebay - And it's a 30-45 min job, you use your stock inverter and everything else. Good Luck!

Did you have to call laptoppartswarehouse to see if they had the panel?

Hmmm, this seems to biased. If everyone on ebay sold panels that way they wouldnt have the rating they do. Ebay isnt a bad way to go.
