This may actually be a monitor issue...I'm not sure yet, but I could use some advice.

    Problem:
Upon DVD play I have random lines that go across the screen intermittently and the picture intemittently looks grainy.

    Specs:
    P-7805U
Driver Version: 7.15.11.7928 - Official driver on nVidia's site

    Monitor:
    FHD2401 24''

    Connection:
    Monster Cable HDMI

    Video Player:
    Windows Media Player

    ----
I'm very inexperienced with monitors and I'm having all sorts of problems getting the color and brightness to the point of looking acceptable...so I will happily concede user error here, but any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I know there are other more up to date unofficial drivers, but as noted – my experience level is low and there are quite a few listed…so I’m not sure where to go.

Are you seeing the lines on the laptop's LCD display, or just when you're viewing content on your HDMI monitor?

the graininess is definitely on both - in fact it seems more obvious on the laptop screen. the lines are really intermittent and very light - it's hard to tell if they are on the laptop or not - but they are visible on the monitor.

Have you tried another video player to see if it is caused by windows media player? If you have that distortion all the time it could be your laptop screen or graphics card, if its only when watchng DVDs it could be the dvd drive or the video player you are using
