Thats because by large XP is dead and is rarely officially supported by anyone any longer.

As of 3 weeks from now it is a 2 generation old OS and will be less and less supported by anything or anyone.

If you just have to have XP32 then there are a few guides with in the Gateway forums about how to downgrade and most of them also have the drivers listed with in the posts

yes, they're identical apart from the graphics being the newer 1gb version of the 9800m and the screen resolution is different. Make sure you read the whole thread, there's some updates in it to get things working and some things that are noted as not working.

    hi again...

    THANKS YOU friends.

i got install the Windows XP and all old (and news) XP games woks without problems. the notebook is fast and works fine. :)

buuuuut only a little problem: the SOUND. :(

it doesn't work automatically when the PC boots; I followed the instructions but could not. i didn't get it. I must do the process manually whenever the computer boots. although it is quick and easy to do.
and my daughter quickly learned how to do that. so its not a big problem ;)

    thank you again guys!
    i appreciate your help.

    dani

If you're doing it manually I assume you made the audiostart.bat file (Or whatever it's named).

All you have to do to make it execute that automatically:
    Right click the file
    Create Shortcut
Drag that shortcut to the Start Menu > Programs > Startup folder

Anything in the startup folder will be opened when the computer starts up.

If you DONT have the .bat file yet I can help you with that also.

Thats the problem, you don't want the .bat file in the startup folder.

The .bat file needs to be in the same folder as devcon.exe

Then the .bat file simply needs to say: devcon restart PCI\cc_0403

Then you make a SHORTCUT to the .bat file, and put the SHORTCUT in the startup folder.

    :)

HEY MAN!!! NOW WORKS PERFECT!!! :)

I put the file name wrong, instead of 'audiostart.bat' 'audiostart.bat.txt'.
I don't know what the hell I was thinking.

    THANK YOU!!!

    dani.
