It seems that once every 10 or 15 minutes, my system locks up for about 1-2 seconds. I don't see anything in the event viewer and I'm suspecting the second hard drive. Has anyone experienced something similar?

    Hi!

I have noticed the same problem but I don't have a second hdd in mine. I might put one in later but as of yet no. I haven't used it heavily yet either when I first noticed it did as you described. Also, my occurences don't seem to be regular...it halts for a 1-2 seconds then about 15 minutes later it happens again then it seems to not come back.

Let's see what somebody comes up with. Hopefully it's not anything serious.

It is possible what you two are describing is a Advanced Power Management problem.

Open Control Panel, Power Options - what is your setting?

Change it to "High performance" if you are mostly on external power and then run it a bit to see if it makes any difference.

If already on High Perfomance, raise the "turn off display" and "put computer to sleep" settings, to see if that makes a difference.

If still no joy, then try "change advance power settings" and raise the "turn off hard disk after" setting.

Let us know if this made any difference for you, OK?

It's your hard drive turning off and then needing to turn on again. I don't know why this only occurs when you put in a second hard drive. JohnWhoTwo's last suggestion will work for sure. Just stop the hard drive from ever turning off. This is kind of weird though. I've heard about this plenty of times with the 7811, but never with the 7805.

It happens with the 7805. I just raised the turned off settings for the HD to 30 minutes per JohnWhoTwo recommendation. It was set at 20 minutes before.

    We'll see.

I saw it with my 7805 as well. I changed the power setting to NEVER turn off HD while on AC power. That fixed it, except when I run on battery
