I noticed that there's an empty mini PCIe slot in this laptop. I'm not yet up to speed on this spec.

    1. Is this a mini PCIe or half mini PCIe slot?
    2. What can I put in it?

I was thinking about a SATA SSD card to use for ReadyBoost and stuff I don't necessarily want on my hard drive. I already ordered a Bluetooth module that connects directly to the motherboard. So, I cannot think of any other uses.

I bought a 2GB Intel Turbo Memory half height card and installed it in there. Works without any problems.

Other than Robson memory modules, wireless cards, Bluetooth cards, or WWAN cards, that's about it for mini-PCIe.
