I have a 4 month old P-7805u that when I do a shut down, it will power down and shut off with all lights off. After about a minute it will restart.

It just started doing this in the last few days.

AVG with todays updates shows clean.

    Running Vista 64bit, no SP2

    Any Ideals???

    Thanks
    Rudy

Check BIOS and change any "Wake-On" or "Wake-From" settings.
Also check the Power Options in Vista, go to the Advanced where you can see ALL the options (You may have to click "Show me the options that are currently hidden" or something like that).
I'm not currently on Vista so I can't tell you word for word exactly what the options are, but they will essentially be "Wake from" or "Wake on" just like in BIOS.

For example in my Windows 7 build 7000 one of my advanced power options is:
    Allow Wake Timers: Enable/Disable

There may also be a wake from lan or wake on event setting, but like I said I don't have Vista in front of me (I'm anti-vista) so I can't tell you exactly, you'll have to check it out and see what you can find (Unless someone chimes in with the exact options).

If it's not software or bios related, it could be the battery, power supply, power adapter, etc. (Hardware)

Are you shutting down via the OS or physically with the power button? If not through vista, try shutting down by pushing the power button and see if it still boots.... if not check the bios settings mentioned above

Also, unhook all unnessary USB devices and the network cable and see if the problem persists.
