Hmmmm... You know, I was actually considering posting asking the same thing! I recently purchased my p-7805u, and it has a slightly similar condition.

My personal estimation is that it really doesn't matter too terribly much.. because if you examine it with a straight-edge it seems to maintain that shape even when open (though not really noticable, because of the lack of a parallel surface).

Wouldn't surprise me if they were all this way to some extent... I always write things like this off as me being 'more picky than most' due to my background =)

Will post some pics later if I have a moment, just so you can compare - and others can see!

Oh i have OCD like you wouldn't believe and this is one of those things most people wouldn't even notice but I guess its just me... i snapped some crappy pics of it... you can see the little rubber feet on the outer sides of the screen don't touch and the center is a closer gap...

yup, I get nothing of the sort with mine, its almost perfectly even straight across. dunno know it could be, a very long shot at a guess would be that heat bend the plastic but i dont know how the screen would ever get that hot :/

Yup, Torch - that's EXACTLY what I have, too.... Meant to snap some shots before I left work, but the main reason I'm quite sure this isn't anything to "worry" about is because if you use a straight-edge across the back of the screen, even with it in the open position, you'll note that it actually is bowed there, too. Seems to be purely cosmetic, though... just glad I'm not the "only member of the club" :D

Product quality meets manufacturing tolerances.... But still, I'm not complaining =)

Actually, the only reason it even concerned me at all is I have a tendancy to grab the laptop by the corner(s) as I pull it out of my pack, etc, and that compresses the corner so that it DOES touch. But I've already ruled out that even this amount of flex / stress actually isn't even enough to distort the image on the screen at all.
