Hey all, in searching for a separate issue I have with my laptop, I came across two different chipsets on Gateway's website.

The first chipset is Intel 8.7.0.1007 2.1 MB 01/02/2012

The second chipset Intel 9.1.1.1020 2.4 MB 06/28/2010

My dilemma? How is it that chipset 9.1.x.x.xxxx was released in 2010, but chipset 8.7.x.xxxx was released in 2012?

Am I to believe that the 8.7.x.xxxx is the newer chipset? I can't find anything with a search on this site or using google. I just want to make sure I have the most up to date drivers.

    Thanks.

The latest drivers are usually found on the component manufacturers' sites. In this case I would go to Intel's site and use their Driver Update Utility: Intel® Driver Update Utility

I have a P-7805u myself, but I've never downloaded anything from Gateway's site.

I'm with Jimbob here. I've had my 7805u for the longest time and not once did I ever download drivers from gateways website. It would be best if you looked at what kind-of drivers you needed and then went to each manufacturers website.

So you know, some of the versions released are hybrid Windows Vista and Windos 7 drivers and may have lower version numbers. This is not always the case but some times is. As mentioned the BULK OEM drivers are usually best as Gateway no longer seems to update driver versions.

I was able to go to Intel's site and get the correct chipset update. :D

    Thanks.
