Was just checking out Gateway's website for signs of the 7805 (bought one Friday, the wife was pleased).
No 7805, but, just to confuse everyone, there is a 7807 listed. Looks just like the 7801/7805, but with a P8600 instead of a P8400. Then again, the 7805's don't even have the specs on the side of their box correct, so why would we think Gateway would have them right on their website?
So, we have the 7805 released (or at least manufactured and shipped) before it is announced, and now the 7807 announced before it is released. Hope everyone is keeping up.

I was looking at that page a couple of hours ago, no 7807 listed then. wow. Still $1399.99, for nearly the same specs that is listed on our 7805u boxes (diff is the P8600).
-
-
Yup, exactly the specs pasted on the 7805u box (except the CPU)
-
-
Even Gateway doesn't know what it is releasing....
-
Woah what is Gateway doing???
-
Trying really really hard to be one of the biggest thorns in the sides of its competitors, which I thing they and ASUS are doing very very well.
-
page shows a nvidia 8800 gts chipset on the P series page logo too...
Me personally I'd rather pay 300 less and then just upgrade the processor to a 2.8 or 3.0, however the 8800 gts is a nice upgrade from the 9800m isn't it? -
haha
It's the best upgrade you can dream of!
-
Where do you see 8800GTS ? I see 9800M GTS 1GB !!! and smaller res screen.
The only up is the 0.16gHz faster CPU, not worth it, IMHO. -
Why so many models???????????

The logo is on this page

glad to hear the 9800gts is an upgrade. I was under the impression it was a downgrade. To bad we have the low end of the 9800's though... only 64 shaders vs 96 - GT, or 112 - GTX -
-
The 9800m GTS has 1gb of Ram too

Hi guys,
I was interested in the ASUS G71G-X1, but I just saw the P-7807u FX on the Gateway website, and it looks like a better buy for the money, but I can't find a place to buy it online or not, and I can't seem to communicate with Gateway. Has anyone had luck finding it?
Thanks! -
Buy the P-7805u at Best Buy, it has a 2.2 cpu instead of a 2.4, but is at lest $200.00 cheaper
-
Right. Add 100 to those 200 you save and buy the good and mighty T9800 CPU.
-
Also you can spend the last 100 on another 320GB 7.2K drive for the RAID 0 setup
-
And add $200+ more when he sells off the stock P8400....
-
May want to hold onto the stock CPU for any warranty issues that creep up, even though getting 200 back towards a new CPU would be very nice im not sure it would out weigh getting something repaired that you had to pay out of pocket.
-
Ah, so the Warranty isn't voided by removing the stock CPU? (even if theres' a sticker across the socket?)
-
-
Ah ok, so I guess that sticker that is stuck on top of the cpu is easy to remove and restore. Glad to know. Might up the ante to a P9500 since they're quite affordable-ish
