I tried searching for this, but am not getting the information I need exactly. Are the screens (connections and all) for the following laptops all interchangable? 6831, 6860, 7801, 7805, 7811, 7808? I just got the 7808 and want to change the screen. But, when I search for replacement screens (WUXGA), I get hits for 6860 and 6831 only. So I guess I just need to know if I can get one of these and install into my 7808.

    Anyone know?

Oh yeah and also, I remember seeing a DIY on someone that changed the screen on the P-6831fx. But I can't find it anymore. Can someone help me find it?

Yes they are all interchangeable Litham. What I can't find out for sure is whether we can install an LED backlit screen. zfactor tells me it's not possible as they don't have a normal inverter, but I've not been able to confirm that info.

If that's true I think the best quality replacement screen is the LG Philips LP171WU3 (TL) (A3). I've not been able to determine what the A3 stands for as I originally thought it was to do with the mountings but that's not the case (that's what the TL refers to). I believe A1, A2, A3, B1, B2, B3 will all fit and I have read it might refer to the build factory, screen brightness or screen coating but I'm not sure which.

I would of gone with the more subtle, I don't know that depends on what your bios is and getting a copy of that might help us help you easier, but no, you guys had to be more direct.

Answer to your question is yes and yes, you can find the replacement screens on ebay actually for pretty cheap, look for 7811 or 7805.
