Hi everybody, I need help  Firstly, sorry if I'll make some mistakes because English isn't my native language.

Three weeks ago my friend bought me in US my first notebook P-7809u. However my happiness didn't last long since from day one I started to get weird problems with display driver.

It crashes when I'm watching video. Mostly the screen freezes, then goes black and only hard reset can help, sometimes it freezes for a couple of seconds, goes black and then comes back saying the display driver had crashed and has recovered, sometimes it goes black for 2-3 seconds, sound still plays, then comes back and plays normally, sometimes I get blue screen. It happens very irregularly. It can be fine for 3 hours then crashes or crashes every 10 minutes. Also it seems to happens more often with lower resolution videos, but I'm not sure of that. The weird thing is that while playing games like Gears of War, Need For Speed SHIFT, Crysis or running 3DMark06 everyting is fine all the time. I haven't done anything more yet.

I've tried like 20 various drivers (from Nvidia, Gateway, DOX, beta) using of course Driver Sweeper, analyzing problem only on clean OS, use diffrenet codecs, googling it and searching for solution everywhere, changing from Vista to 7 and vice versa like 10 times, changing video players, using fixes from here and here, but still sooner or later it crashes :mask: After all this, I think it might me hardware problem but sending it to Gateway's service is for me now impossible/too expensive (is there any Gateway's service in Europe?).

Also I'm afraid that if I'll send it to service, they will reinstall the system, not get a problem for half of hour, assume everything is fine now and send it back still broken.

So does anybody can help me? Or just make some suggestions? I would be very, very grateful.

It's may be a driver problem ^^. Try using 181.71 driver ^^, you will need some modding tool to install this. I'm currently using this version after struggling the same problem as you are ^^.

Modding tool name nVidia Mobility Modder tool. ^^, sorry, I've tried to give you a link here, but cafe's network is too slow.

Let me know if these things help you out, hopefully it will.

    Good luck, man
