Hello all,
First post with my new 7811 and i must say i'm loving it. I have a couple of questions regarding my options for external speakers with this unit. While i was at BB i came across the Bose Companion series. Now since the 7811 doesnt have the correct jacks for a 5.1 (or 3.1) system i thought i was SOL. It appears that the Bose connect via USB. Would i achive true 5.1/3.1 with these? If not, what can you suggest for an external sound card and really great sounding 5.1/3.1 speakers?
Also, i'm planning to purchase the NZXT Cryo Cooler, after reading a bunch of peoples comments on it. I did read in one reply that the person used a power adapter to plug the USB into a standard wall socket, anyone have any info or links on one of these?
Thank you so much and this forum was definitely the deciding factor in purchasing this laptop.

Any speaker that connects via USB will have it's own "soundcard" onboard. It literally makes your current audio specs meaningless. BTW you can borrow my flame suit for mentioning BOSE in a public forum. Just have it washed and back on my desk tommorow morning okay?

and im one of the people that run the NZXT cryo this way. works great. -
The only reasons Bose stood out were it was USB and wasn't 6 speakers taking up all my desk space. I'm not decided on any one brand at all, especially since my last 5.1 was a Dell brand... and they worked just fine for me. I haven't had much luck finding other USB speakers, does anyone have any suggestions?
If not USB what would you recommend for a external sound card for 5.1/3.1?
Thanks!
Nick
