Does no one else notice how grainy the screen is??? I went to 2 bestbuys and saw both their display models and each one has the same grainy screen (both 1920x1200 resolution). When you look at it from the proper viewing angle you can see grainy/sparkles effect especially against white backgrounds. With darker backgrounds the screen looks gorgeous. When looking from different angles vertically or horizontally the screen looks gorgeous and doesn't have the grainy effect (albeit colors are a little off). I used to own a nx860xl with a 1680x1050 screen and it had the same exact problem which i sold because i couldn't stand the grainy/sparkle effect. Also when looking at the screen at the proper angle the brightness is not uniform, its brightest being horizontal to the level of your eyes. The LCD hardware ID for both notebooks i saw were the same: AUO1088. Can anyone who doesn't notice this grainy effect post your LCD hardware ID? This is the only thing preventing me from purchasing this notebook. Thanks

I think the problem you are seeing is, the 7811FX screen is not glossy enough like some of the Dell and HPs.

The WXUGA screen is so crisp that you can see the grains from graphic imperfections of fonts.

One way to fix this is to adjust the ClearType screen adjustment. Make it softer to smooth out the graininess.

I think the screen is amazing but not the edges are not as soft as my Macbook Pro's matte screen.
