I recently bought a new SD card from Newegg, 4GB Transcend SD card 133X http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820208411, and for some reason my laptop won't read it. Upon inserting the SD card into the internal card reader, it would freeze my Gateway computer (see sig) for a minute, and then asks me to format the card. I tried formatting it (not quick format) and it will freeze the format menu (ie "not Responding") and the progress bar never moves. I used a normal 1GB SD card in there and it works perfectly fine. I have put the Transcend SD card into my Asus EeePC (see sig) and it works perfectly. Could this be not supported on my P-7811 FX? I have the latest card reader driver from the manufacturer web site.
Any ideas?

i got the card reader (the sd card part) to work by deleting the drivers from gateways site and using the ones windows installs by default. for the memstick i use the o2 micro drivers (i think these are the gateway ones) but that was the only way my sd card wouldnt freeze my lappy. i dunno if it matters but im on win 7 not vista (never tried the card reader under vista though)

I also have Transcend miroSD 1GB card, and i have the same problem you described. I guess that reader doesnt read Transcend cards at all
card works fine in my cellphone and other laptop. -
This is really strange. I recently installed Ubuntu 9.04 (Jaunty) on my laptop and the card reader works perfectly under Ubuntu. It's got to be Vista.
