This is a problem for which I didn't see an answer posted here, required some technical knowledge and took me a while to solve, so I thought I'd post it here in the hopes it helps someone else.
The symptoms are a regular BSOD every few hours with the error message "DRIVER_STATE_POWER_FAILURE". I ran a debugger on dump file and tracked the problem down the the O2 driver used for the SD/MMC card slot. In a fit of lazyness, I had been leaving an SD card in there. Once I removed the SD card, I no longer had the regular crashes. Telling the computer to not go to sleep did not solve the problem - only removing the SD card did. You can use the SD card slot, but prolonged use of more than a few hours would always result in a BSOD for me.
Hope this is info is useful.

Have you tried to update the Card Readers Drivers? It shouldnt crash out your machine like that no matter how long you leave the card in.
Its like Blue Screening because you leave a USB stick in to long... just shouldnt happen -
I hunted around for updated drivers, but wasn't able to find any.

does your 7811 have the reltek card reader?
If so go to iaTa's driver thread (its not just about video cards) and he has a link to the newest version of the card readers driver.
If its the same version as what you use then i would recommend just uninstalling the driver and cleaning out all traces of it and then downloading a fresh copy and reinstalling it. Maybe comething is corrupted in the install that you have -
No, it has the O2 Micro card reader. I've searched their site, but they haven't posted any drivers.

I have the 7805u and that's happened to me. I left my SD card in and while I was playing a game, it just when BSOD on me.
-
Have you tried disabling the power management stuff for the reader by opening it in device manager and looking at its advanced tab? You might be able to disable the low power states for the card reader.

Somethings not right here...
The card slot can also function as a "fast boot" when SD cards of a proper speed are used. Vista automatically finds these cards when inserted and offers to set them up for fast boot. Granted, I've not seen any major speed increase in bootup, but I've never BSOD'd either (knock on wood). -
I thought it might be my configuration, so I did a clean reinstall from the Gateway disks - with nothing else installed I still got BSOD's. Removed the SD card, and the problem went away. Maybe I just had a flaky system in this regard, but being that someone else already chimed in about having a similar problem, I don't think it's limited to me.

Yes, I had this problem too until I upgraded the driver. The one on their site is newer than the one that shipped with the system.

Hmm... disable Ready Boost or whatever?
P-7811 FX will BSOD if SD Card left in slot
