I got a P-7811 and I installed windows 7 ultimate also the latest nvidia driver for windows 7 right from nvidia site and there is not way that I can have this dam notebook to enter sleep mode what it does some time it'll log off and other time it'll make the CPU fan to go into high speed and freeze it up the hibernation it is working O.K. also in most cases when clicking
On restart the notebook it won’t restart instead it just sets on boot with a blank screen
I’ve tried 3 different drivers reload windows when you first load windows 7 it works O.K. but as soon the nvidia driver it’s installed that is it.
I’m just wondering if anyone also with win 7 it’s got the same problem

Try taking a step back and uninstall that Nvidia driver and install the one on the Gateway site.

That's the one I'm using and havent had any problem.

You are talking about Win 7 Release Candidate, aren't you?

    Ah, I'm running Win 7 RC 7100 x64.

Disappointing that the RC doesn't have the problem you discribe, but the RTM copy does.

It is not an activation problem I got 4 or 5 activators the last one it's the best same thing even before you activate it as soon as I load the nvidia driver bingo no more sleep I never tried the RC win 7. I got 3 different win 7 including the last one MSDN x64 all with the same problem I’m going to keep tiring till I'll find out what it's causing this

Hey did you figure it out? I have the same problem. I have it with the newest bios and graphic drivers as well as the gateway chipset drivers on the website.... it goes to the point that anytime I close the lid and put it into sleep mode.... the computer struggles and goes balistic (barely being able to pull through) but the fans are on permalock where they are blowing intensely as if i'm playing an intensive game but i'm not.

If i lose the lid for the second type. it completely blanks out and freezes and never gets back out. the keyboard is still lit up by the numepad and wireless turn on/off functions are stuck. basically the computer is frozen and stuck with the fans still going and processing.

only solutoin is a hard reset. i'm all out of ideas. i would had to have to reinstanll windows again knowing that i would have to reinstall all the drivers and software. what a pain

keep in mind this is the Retail version of Windows Professional that I got via student discount and direct download.

sigh I hope they fix this.
